About this Episode

In this episode of The Chris and Andre Show, Chris, Andre and friend-of-the-show Joe cover a ton of ground, starting with politics, jumping to business and technology, then over to sports, and finally to pop culture where they spend most of their time debating comics, vigilantism, and cable news networks.

(00:00:00) Intros - FireGuyJoe is back again as the guys struggle with the AWS outage and have to resort to Zoom instead of their usual riverside.fm comforts. We apologize for the quality and single camera feed, but we should be back to normal next week!

(00:02:40) Politics - The guys start things off on the “downer” subjects this week by discussing gun safety laws following the most recent school shooting in Michigan, then congratulate Republicans on embracing their racist tendencies by selecting a former KKK member to run for office in Georgia, and Idaho official who is upset about a “black” Hershey’s commercial, and Lauren Boebert… continues to be herself.

(00:25:24) Business - Andre is celebrating the news that Jack Dorsey has left Twitter, though the guys acknowledge he’s really just moving on to Square where they are embracing Cryptocurrency with open arms.

(00:29:18) Technology - Trump’s Truth’s had to tell the truth about where it’s software came from which is a win for Mastodon, and Andre has had enough with TikTok no matter how good their algorithm may be.

(00:42:37) Sports - Teddy Bridgewater has effectively ended Andre’s football season, the guys discuss boycotts of the upcoming Winter Olympics in China, and try to understand baseball’s need for its first lockout since 1994.

(00:54:36) Pop Culture - Young Bull released a new song and video recently (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wtrt3GdAmpI) and the guys are loving it, Disney+’s hawkeye has the guys debating which Marvel TV show is their favorite, the guys discuss how Marvel has chosen to handle diversity and what they think should be their focus going forward, take a brief detour into Venture Bros. territory, debate whether Marvel chooses to tell all the stories they could, and fanboy over Dredd while bemoaning the culture theft of Punisher and Dredd by right-wing nutjobs (so not surprisingly, the Kyle Rittenhouse trial is brought up a lot in this conversation).

This leads to a bigger discussion about vigilantism as a whole and whether it’s ever okay to take the law into your own hands, then Andre explains why he feels the media continues to berate President Biden and Chris says it’s because they miss the last guy.

Finally, Chris Cuomo getting fired by CNN has Andre feeling some sort of way and the guys all discuss the better news source options out there (that won’t have you taking horse dewormer).
