The Racist Mass Shooting in Buffalo, New York | THE BIG RANT

In this week's The Big Rant, we talk about the racistly-motivated mass shooting in Buffalo, New York a few weeks back. At the heart of the issue are two things: 1) How this level or racism continues to exist in this country and throughout the world. 2) How this country has failed at every opportunity to do something about gun violence.

The Second Amendment to the Constitution states: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. Yet, somehow the "well-regulated" part seems to be avoided at every turn by people who would rather fetishize their guns than keep people safe.

And we all are sick and tired of hearing about "thoughts and prayers" after each and every one of these horrific events. If thoughts and prayers were worth anything, there wouldn't be any mass shootings after all the thoughts and prayers that have been offered. And we're also sick of hearing that it's not the time to discuss gun control after a mass shooting, that somehow we need to wait until there are no mass shootings (not going to happen) to decide something about gun control laws in this country. We need change in a major way and the people in our government are failing to do their jobs.
