About this Episode
In this episode, Chris and Andre discuss some impacts of the coronavirus, announce their renewed distaste for social media, share some of the pop culture they’ve consumed lately, and wrap things up with a thorough discussion of life.
NOTE: This episode was recorded on May 12, 2020. Also, Andre’s audio came through with a strange echo that I wasn’t able to fix, so apologies to him and you for that.
(00:00:24) Intro - Andre continues to call out Chris for his less-than-on-time podcast editing while pimping our new website (https://chrisandandreshow.com), where you can find our latest episodes, additional ramblings in text form, and much, much more (or at least some more, eventually it will be much).
(00:09:01) Politics - The guys begin with a conversation about the economy and their predictions post Coronavirus, meat processing as an essential business and other supply chain thoughts, Chris talks about how he has been disappointed by the reaction of some people to the virus.
(00:17:31) Social Media - Andre and Chris have both had it with social media platforms because of the lack of real conversations, both guys see them as a barrier to communication, the guys talk about the real value of these platforms are to marketers, Twitter is only popular now because of President Trump and other social media and political related topics are also discussed.
(00:28:41) Happy Mother’s Day! - Even though this is weeks late now, Andre and Chris would both like to wish all of the mom’s in their lives and in the listening audience a Happy Mother’s Day.
(00:32:02) Pop Culture - Michael Jordan says to backoff LeBron James and Chris and Andre discuss the pettiness of society and take issue with “The Cancel Society”, the guys discuss Dave Chappelle and the value of comedy, Chris does his best to not insult people from Southern California and this somehow leads to a return to Politics with a somewhat Pop Culture bent…
(00:53:18) Back to Real Pop Culture - The guys get back to real Pop Culture with a discussion of things they’ve been watching including The Interview, The Class, The I.T. Crowd, John Henry, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Schitt’s Creek, Kim’s Convenience, and Death of Stalin. Chris talks about watching Wild, Wild Country and just how crazy it is.
(01:00:49) Life - Andre talks about the impact of the Ahmaud Arbery shooting making headline news and relates a personal story about replacing his alternator, Chris points out that the current virus situation has magnified the cracks in our personal relationships, Andre announces he is officially unaffiliated again, Andre uses a story about the guys’ work on the website to demonstrate how Politics should work and then tells the mainstream media how to take President Trump to task.
(01:35:21) Mic Drop! - That’s a wrap, folks! The guys will be back soon (assuming Chris gets another episode edited)!
